Before even trying to get into Sudan, make sure you have your visas in order and give yourself plenty of time to get them. The Sudanese visas proved to be the most difficult and time-consuming visas that my Italian interpreter and I have yet obtained – and we have been to a lot of weird places. However, it is doable.  Unless you know someone though, you will find the task made significantly easier by recruiting the assistance of an outfit such as Raidan Travel (more on them below).

Entering Khartoum:

After getting out of the airport, one of the first buildings you will see upon entering Khartoum is this brand new luxury hotel (pictured below), the Burj al-Fateh, financed by Lafico, the Libyan Foreign Investment Company, and designed by Italian architects.

O que levou a revisão da Lei de Zoneamento ao judiciário paulista?

Anunciada no início da gestão do prefeito João Dória, em 2017, a revisão do Plano Diretor e da Lei de Zoneamento foi marcada, de um lado, pela intensa interlocução com o setor imobiliário, e, de outro, pela ausência de diálogo com diversos atores, dentre os quais órgãos internos da própria Prefeitura, órgãos de controle, entidades, movimentos e associações ligados às questões urbana e ambiental.

Neste contexto, o Ministério Público, ao mover uma Ação Civil Pública (a ACP no 1012986-77.2018.8.26.0053, ajuizada no dia 15 de março de 2018) que pede a interrupção do processo de discussão do projeto de lei de revisão da Lei de Parcelamento, Uso e Ocupação do Solo (Lei municipal no 16.402/2016), conhecida também como Lei de Zoneamento, mostrou-se convicto de que tanto o processo participativo de alteração desta lei, quanto o conteúdo dos supostos ajustes nela propostos estão repletos…

“Modern Movement reality” by Louis Hellman: The legacy of founding modernist Le Corbusier [From Exploding the Myths of Modern Architecture (2009, Frances Lincoln Ltd., London)] I’ve mentioned Malcolm Millais’s Exploding the Myths of Modern Architecture several times in recent posts. Malcolm, a Brit who lives in Portugal, has sent innumerable nuggets that have helped me push this blog over the edge for years. He is a specialist on modernism’s totalitarian bent. Now I have been warned that the book, published in 2009, may be about to go out of print. This would be a disappointment, and a setback to any hope for the future of mankind. Andres Duany, the New Urbanism guru who is known and respected by many who read this blog (including its author), had this to say in December 2010 about Malcolm’s book:

Rufo é um catchup caseiro e consideravelmente saudável. Cada porção de 20 gramas tem apenas dois gramas de carboidratos. Ou seja, a metade de muitas opções de catchup industrializado.

Ingredientes

Tomate, açúcar mascavo, páprica, vinagre de maçã, sal e ágar-ágar.

Preparo

Em uma panela coloco 750 gramas (seis unidades grandes) de tomates maduros e cortados em quatro partes e 30 gramas de açúcar mascavo. Mexo bem os ingredientes e acrescento uma colher de sopa de vinagre de maçã e uma colher de chá de páprica picante (se preferir, você pode substituir pela doce). Deixo a mistura cozinhar até amolecer bem o tomate.

Então adiciono uma colher e meia de chá de sal rosa (use o tipo de sua preferência) e 10 gramas (duas colheres de chá) de ágar-ágar. Misturo bem e quando começar a ferver, desligo o fogo e bato tudo no liquidificador. Depois coloco de volta…
